Structured Training- Optimiser Training

I read an interesting article the other day outlining the “structured training” approach FC Barcelona has adopted and refined over the years. At its core is “the principle that sport-specific training produces better performance adjustments, one of the objectives is to design training tasks which replicate the context and conditions of competition in order to achieve the best possible optimisation of the human athlete’s (HA) different structures.” (p.56)

As I read the article, in particular their thoughts on “Optimiser Training”, training that prepares the HA to compete, which in turn requires training tasks to be performed in environments that are specific to the game, I once more thought about the utility of WR. As the video shows you can wear WR in a sport specific context, to challenge and develop HA capacities that are physical (e.g. strength, power, speed) bio-energetic (stamina), cognitive, coordinative, creative-expressive, corrective and even mental. WR is a great form of  optimiser training me thinks.
